Why choose the 400 Series Gliding Windows?
Gliding windows are perfect for high-traffic areas: the sash slide horizontally, so they never obstruct a walkway, porch or pool deck. The 400 Series steps up from the 200 Series with both sash operable, a wider palette of exterior colors, a fiberglass-covered exterior frame and flexible bulb weatherstripping installed at the factory for a tight, weathertight seal between sash and frame. Natural wood sash members deliver excellent structural stability and energy efficiency.

Full divided light
Grilles on the interior and exterior with an aluminum spacer between the glass for the most authentic look.
Simulated divided light
Permanent exterior grilles with permanent or removable interior wood grilles and no spacer between the panes.
Finelight™ between-the-glass
Grilles sealed between the panes for the easiest cleaning.
Removable interior grille
Interior wood grilles secured with a clip that lift out so you can wipe the glass in seconds.
Grille patterns
Every Andersen 400 Series unit can be ordered with the glass package that fits its exposure. All options are ENERGY STAR® certified configurations; ask us about impact-rated glass for coastal wind zones.
SmartSun™ glass
All the benefits of Low-E glass plus extra protection from the Florida sun — it filters out 95% of harmful UV rays while letting daylight through. Our most-recommended glass for North Florida.
Low-E4® glass
Reflects summer heat away and helps hold conditioned air inside, a strong all-around choice where cooling costs matter most.
HeatLock® coating
An interior-surface coating that reflects escaping heat back into the room. Can be added to most Andersen glass options.
PassiveSun® glass
Lets the sun help warm your home in winter — best suited to shaded or north-facing openings.
Dual-pane glass
Clear insulated glass with basic thermal performance, available where local codes allow.
Low-E4® Sun glass
A subtle tint that blocks even more solar heat — ideal for west-facing walls and pool decks.
Decorative & specialty glass
Patterned, obscure and art glass for bathrooms, entries and accent windows, plus tempered safety glass where code requires it.
Every window includes an insect screen; upgrade to TruScene® for a nearly invisible view.
Full or half insect screen
A half screen (pictured) lets you ventilate the lower sash without interrupting the view through the upper sash. Frames come in colors that match the exterior; conventional mesh is charcoal powder-coated aluminum.
TruScene® insect screen
Andersen’s exclusive TruScene® screens provide over 50% more clarity than conventional screens, let in more light and air, and keep out smaller insects.
Exterior trim
Factory-applied exterior trim completes the look and is often essential for authentic architectural style. Match your window color or choose a contrasting trim.
